In June 2023, Valmont and T-Mobile reported a 77-mile drone inspection mission in Texas using a Harris Aerial aircraft. The case illustrates how aircraft endurance, inspection payload and communications work together in a complete mission.
What the operators reported
The June 5, 2023 announcement from T-Mobile and Valmont describes a non-stop flight from Childress to Aspermont completed in under three hours, with a connected Sony A7RM5 camera. The announcement reports live data transfer and infrastructure inspection along the route.
The announcement calls the aircraft an H6E. Harris Aerial’s own post about the flight describes a Carrier H6 Hybrid EFI. These are the labels used by the respective sources; they should not be treated as a new catalogue specification.
The Löweheiser connection
In our original June 2023 account, we identified the generator in the Harris Aerial collaboration as the Löweheiser HYBGEN 32. That historical account concerns the installation described at the time. Current generator configurations and their suitability for another aircraft require separate confirmation.
A mission result is not a universal endurance guarantee
Distance and flight time depend on the complete aircraft, payload, mission and operating conditions. This example should not be used to promise the same result from another airframe simply because it uses a hybrid generator.
When discussing a new installation, define the aircraft load, electrical demand, duty cycle and installation constraints. Explore our hybrid drone generators and the difference between mechanical and electrical consumption measurements.
